General Information
Definition
Endocrine diseases, or endocrinopathy, are any diseases caused by the abnormal function of endocrine glands, including the pituitary, thyroid, and adrenal glands. [1] Metabolic disorders involve the disruption of metabolic processes and are caused by genetic errors, hormonal dysfunction, and/or mineral or vitamin deficiency states. Common metabolic disorders include phenylketonuria, diabetes, and thyroid dysfunction.[2]
