Jennifer Orange

Jennifer A. Orange (B.A. (UPenn) 1993, LL.B. (Toronto) 1998, LL.M. (NYU) 2003, called to the Bar of Ontario 2000) practiced law until 2007 when life threw her a curveball. At that time her daughter became critically ill and was later diagnosed with a complex chronic disease. As a result, Jennifer has experience as a caregiver in hospitals, out-patient clinics, homecare and accessing care internationally. She advocates for research and clinical support for rare diseases, and in particular, for Autoimmune Polyendocrinopathy Syndrome.

Jennifer has developed web-based software to help manage chronic disease at home and founded a fund at the SickKids Foundation to create a disease registry. She served for 10 years as a director and chair of the board of the Gerstein Centre, a community-based centre for people in mental health crisis. She is currently an adjunct professor at the University of Toronto Faculty of Law teaching international human rights and international humanitarian law.
