Yesterday was a historic day for the Patients’ Association of Canada - Thank You!

At our inaugural conference more than 100 people representing all parts of the health care system and from across much of Canada came together to consider ways of improving the patient experience.

The 27 discussions were animated and rich – full of good ideas leavened by strong debate and discussion. The resulting reports will be posted on this web site shortly for comment and emailed to all participants for their responses. We are looking at the reports and are beginning an analysis that we will make available in the next days. There is so much material that can help us in our thinking about ways forward.

The book launch of My Operation that followed was a great success with more than 300 people gathered to hear Sholom speak about its development and his hope for others to share their patient experience.

Neil Stuart introduced Carolyn Bennett, the MP for St. Paul’s. She spoke convincingly about the need for a patients’ organization and about Sholom Glouberman’s journey as its first leader. We appreciate her support in recognizing that the way forward in our health care system includes patients as equal participants.

We encourage those of you who are just learning about PAC to sign up for E-Membership! Also, tell others about PAC and by sharing this invitation you strengthen the patient voice and increase the opportunity for innovative dialogue in the health care system.

Thank you to those who offered feedback. We encourage you to email yours. Below is a comment from someone who attended the launch party:

"I would like to thank the PAC team for a wonderful event last night, which brought together a wonderful variety of individuals and hence encouraging a great exchange of experiences."
